| Mind
Control (Oxygen) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5,6 |
 |
| Superb Tune, Plenty of
bass, lots of well executed breakdowns, even managed to slip in some cheese without going
overboard. All in all a very nice rounded tune, only let down by an electropop
ending courtesy of megadance (sorry but this loop does rather suck) Oxygen does
need to end his tunes a little better though |
| Unreal
(Oxygen) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5 |
 |
| Oxygen drops the tempo
this time to the floor for this one and not wrongly so, but it does remind me of when i
was in cream and the dj was too mashed to realise the tune was playing too slow.
However a dancey tune this isn't and is more suited to chilling out than dance.
Don't get me wrong, but its a good tune with lots of structure..it just needs a higher
tempo. |
| Wide (Oxygen) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5 |
 |
| for me this one was
better than Unreal due to its great intro. Not sure about Oxygens love affair with
EXOX in this one though Terribly abrupt ending again suggesting that oxygen might
even have got bored writing this tune. |
| A time long
forgotten (Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| A beuatiful intro to
this 130bpm tune develops into a rather nice yet, melancholy tune. The slow pace of
the tune doesn't make it bad either, as he has put it together so well. Dan uses the
Groove Generator quite extensively, and this is a definite plus for him. An all
round enjoyable tune worthy of the click. |
| City Life
(Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| A slightly disappointing
mix from dan this time, with some very harsh samples being used together to form the
rather long intro which eventually builds into something much more listenable. Not a
bad tune, but not one of his best either. Sorry Dan...you can do better. |
| Heat it up
(Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:5 |
 |
| A rough and ready tune,
using noicy guy to effect. Not displeasing by any means, in fact it bounces along at
quite a pace and didn't bore me at all. Sure some bits are repetitive, but then
repetitive beats made the dance industry what it is today. Enough variation giving
this one a 4. |
| Circle of Life
(Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| Not a bad tune, it shows
that Dan can mix in different styles. However, some of the sample choices are a
little cheesey (but not overly so). Anyway, this tune has a rather nice breakdown,
even with the funny whistle and folksy dance section. To me, this seems like dan has
been playing with some samples, and it hasn't truly gelled, but again, not a bad thing,
its our not so good mixes that help us to be proud of our banging and decent mixes. eh
dan? This tune does remind me why I scroll past certain samples while looking for
the meatier ones though. Lets face it, some samples just weren't really cut out for
Dance eJay 2, and dan used em' (tongue in cheek there) |
| Journey
to Enlightenment (D.Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| You know, this is a
slower number at 130bpm, but the intro grabbed me immediately. A nine+ minute tune
builds beautifully and maintains its pace throughout. Dan obviously has alot of
talent with Dance eJay 2, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was buzzing while
writing this tune. I would have been. Once again, the groove generator plays
its part well to further enhance the overall tune, nice one! I am giving this a 5 on
the basis that it is a very nice tune throughout and I don't believe in having a 5
rating if I am not going to use it. Slow does not mean boring. |
| Time Travel
(Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:5 |
 |
| Dan uses some of my
favourite samples in this tune to good effect, and while this isn't dan's best tune it is
still worth the download. I get the feeling that dan was concentrating on the trance kit
for this one, or just didn't have the house kit at the time of writing this, but if your
after some good tunes, get this one. You won't regret the click. |
| Troponin
(Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| I get the distinct
feeling that Dan is a man who likes quite a range of different music, not because this
tune is different, but because he takes his tunes down many varying paths. This is a
nice tune with some decent bass in it. (oracle does grab me!) I don't think I
will get any bad flak if I say that Dan ranks on up there with the likes of Oxygen, Peppy,
Anomaly 7, JD Messiah and myself (according to other ejayers, not my opinion) .I
liked this tune, so if you trust my judgement, then trust your finger, if your trust your
finger, trust your mouse, and start that download. |
| Close Orbit
(Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| Ahh, a lovely tune from
dan this is, using samples to great effect as always, he builds the tune constantly with a
great use of layering and the usual masterly use of the groove generator. A Good
tune, if a little short by his normal standards. Loved the use of mayfly, and I have
to say, I experimented with mayfly afterwards, and ended up quite liking the sample.
Keep em' coming dan. |
| Keep Cool
(Dan Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| Everyone knows that I
mainly stick to the 140bpm, but every now and again, I hear a tune that drops the bpm to
the floor, this one is no exception as its bpm is 120bpm, which you know would be ideal
start of the night stuff or just for plain chilling out. The best thing about this
mix is that its not too boring, and includes the odd vocal for good measure. One of
the things I really liked about this tune was his drum breaks, nicely staggered giving an
overall decent playback before a new section kicks in. Good one dan......you get a 4
for what otherwise wouldn't normally grab me...nicely done and oh what an ending! |
| Kill it (Dan
Lilley) |
Kits needed:4,5 |
 |
| Another 120bpm'er from
Dan, this one being very deep and full of drums. Not displeasing for a 120bpm mix,
and it builds wonderfully too. I often wonder what state of mind is best for a
slower mix, but when you take the time to listen to a mix like this, it grabs you.
Good tune dan... a funky groove thats sure to please. |
| Contact
(Oxygen) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5,6 |
 |
| A good tune here from
oxygen, not the best I have heard from him, but still a worthwhile listen nontheless.
Oxygen (simon), has alot of skill on Dance eJay 2, and the only way to know what I
mean is to grab this tune and have a listen for yourself. A nice breakdown in the
midsection leads to a punchy end to the tune and makes for good listening. Well done
Simon. |
| End Game
(Oxygen) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5 |
 |
| I have listened to this
tune quite a few times now, and I quite like it. Simon uses quite alot of the
original dance ejay samples on a regular basis, and this one is no different, but at the
pace this tune flys at, they sound different somehow. The one thing that hits home
with this mix is that Dance eJay 2 is crying out for a dream piano sample kit. We
all went gaga over Children by Robert Miles I am sure, so why not eh? A job well
done here simon, but its still getting a 4, as I KNOW you are capable of better. |
| Orbiting
(Oxygen) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5,6 |
 |
| Well, I said I reserved
a 5 for thos really special mixes didn't I? After handing him this mix back because
I thought it needed more, he worked on it and Yes, oh yes, Simon delivers the goods this
time, and this is a huge hit with my brother too, which is rare. Love the bass
in this tune, and not to mention the door hits. Lovely breakdown leading to
beautiful punchy section. In the words of Chris Tarrant when he was on
Tiswas..."This is what we want!!!" A pat on the back for Simon for this
one. One of my personal favourites. Foot tapping, head bouncing stuff.
Anybody out there with a Soundblaster Live should try this on Arena mode with your quad
speakers pounding...you'll love it! |
| 5 over 6
Remix (Peppy) |
Kits needed:1,2,3,4,5 |
 |
| No mistaking a peppy mix
is there? he tends to sign them with samples (: I have to say though, that
this mix for me anyway was rather disappointing. Peppy knows that the ejay scene has
hotted up, and has chosen to remix what is now an old tune of his. My only problem
with it, is that it sounds too much like the original dance ejay and doesn't quite cut the
mustard. Not wishing to dampen it though, I am going to issue a 4 based simply on
the fact that it is still a darn good mix. he knows it, and should not be
disheartened by my personal comments on this mix. I really have heard better stuff
from peppy though. Right pep? |
| MegaMix99
(DJ Trax) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5,6 |
 |
| Unheard of mostly over
in England, but I got this mix sent to me by a fellow ejayer, he loved it, and so do I.
This mix is very long, but you know I like long mixes as long as they are well
written. Well, I could give this a big review, but I won't. Instead, I will
let you guys hear why I reckon this deserved a 5. |
| Space Trip
(JD Messiah) |
Kits needed:2,3,4,5 |
 |
| You know, this is bloody
good! A very happy mix all round, and well delivered in the style which is earning
JD Messiah aclaim by the day. I do love a well written mix, and here he comes with a
great one at that. Oh yeah, without a doubt, he gets a 5.....couldn't give any less
for a mix such as this. |
